Who Is Joe?
Pilates is named after Joseph H. Pilates, the man who developed the exercise regimen and brought his method to the United States in the 1920's.
Joe had a studio in New York where he worked with various clients including rehabilitating injured professional dancers.
Joseph Pilates believed that his exercise regimen, originally named Contrology, was the ideal system to transform the body into a perfect instrument of the will.
